Single-card printing in waterless UV offset

The UV waterless printing process compared to the conventional offset printing process offers decisive advantages with respect to the printing of unflexible, non-absorbent materials like ABS, PVC, PET and others. All kinds of plastic materials are used for smart cards like telephone cards, memory cards, microprocessor cards, access control cards, bank and credit cards,etc. UV waterless offset inks, processed with waterless offset printing plates (available as positive and negative), show excellent drying characteristics under UV light, which is extremely important in this printing process.

In order to suit the fast developping smart card market, special printing technologies and systems have been launched, such as Rimec/Plextor's special offset printing machines for single cards with customized modifications for individual requirements.

These special printing machines grant highest flexibility and easy operation at the world's highest printing speed of up to 20.000 single cards per hour.

A remarkable, cost effective feature is, among others, the single-card transport through the printing line without grippers, enabling the printing of all kinds of smart cards with a thickness of 0.40 up to 1.5 mm. The printed cards do not have to be laminated, punched etc.

The flexibility of the Rimec/Plextor machines and the UV waterless printing process realize shortest change over times (difficult adjustment of water/ink balance is not necessary), followed by a quick change of process colors to special colors at minimum misprints.

A high ink density, reliable ink control, and a brilliant varnishing quality are among the many considerable features of the UV waterless printing process in combination with Rimec/Plextor's special offset printing machines. High contrast, a great image definition in the shadows and less dot gaining ensure high quality printing results; an image transfer with small and accurate dots of up to 200 lines per cm can be realized.

The mentioned facts prove printing without water as a very economic process and a clear increase of productivity compared to the conventional offset process.
